Struggle Love With Self

One of the most popular questions I get from women is “How do I love myself?” We are constantly bombarded on social media and memes telling women, “Self-Love, Girl, Love Yourself.” But what exactly does that mean? Where does one start on the journey for self-love?

The constant struggle with self-love is a reality for most women. Women are constantly barraged with messages on tv, news, magazines, movies, etc., that says you are nothing unless you have ________! Compounding that with being a woman and experiencing your own struggles in life. This may lead to self-doubt, negative self-talk, low self-esteem and self-confidence, numbness, people pleasing behaviors, lack of self-worth and difficulties in relationship with others. All these negative thoughts and feelings can leave a woman feeling depressed and/or anxious.

Struggle Love with Self is a real phenomenon and holds women back from utilizing their gifts and living a life with purpose. Lack of self-love leads to other disruptive behaviors and feelings of hopelessness.

Self-Love is obtainable and getting down to the core of your issues is part of the process. There is always a root cause as to why you feel the way you do, and it is important that you share your story. Through our work together, not only will we be diving into the tough messy truth, we will work together to create a new narrative of self-love, compassion, and hope.

Struggle Love In Relationships

You met your partner. Love at first sight. Everything was good in the beginning. Dinner dates, gifts, and constant attention in the beginning. As time passes, you feel empty, unheard, lonely, and feeling the strain from your unreciprocated relationship. You often find yourself focused on giving your partner love, respect, and care freely and abundantly. This might look like paying your partner’s bills, cleaning up after them all the time, having sex when you do not want to, acknowledging poor behavior in your partner and staying anyway. Regardless of how much you give you find yourself feeling undervalued, dismissed, or not demanding the same from your partner. You want equal distribution in the relationship, but you do not know how to get it. In this relationship you have made unsuccessful attempts to create love, respect, and care mutually. You are starting to feel resentment towards your partner, but you maintain the relationship. You know your partner is no good for you, but the thought of being alone is too much for you to emotionally handle on your own.

Codependency Disorder

If you relate to the above scenario, you are probably suffering from Codependency (Self-Love Deficiency Disorder). Codependency is an individual disorder that is expressed in relationships.

Women who are self-love deficient, tend to find themselves always giving, and receiving minimal in return. Whether you are dating, married, or in a long-term relationship, you have felt deep loneliness in your relationships. You are very familiar with emotional manipulation and setting boundaries is very challenging for you in fear of losing your relationship. This relationship is causing you to wonder what the purpose of life is and how did you get yourself into this mess. This relationship is causing emotional distress leading to depression and anxiety.
